Ingredients

  • 2 oz cachaça 60ml
  • ½ tablespoon raw cane sugar: Sweetens the drink, though you can adjust to fit your taste.
  • 2–3 fresh mint leaves: A touch of mint adds a refreshing aroma.
  • 3 small, ripe strawberries: Make sure they’re hulled and sliced for easy mixing.
  • ½ fresh lime: Cut into wedges for that perfect tartness.

Method

Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients
  1. Gather all your ingredients. Make sure your strawberries are ripe and ready to go. Rinse them under cold water, and don’t forget the lime. It should be fresh to ensure optimal taste.
Step 2: Muddle the Strawberries and Lime
  1. In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, place the sliced strawberries and lime wedges. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to crush them gently. This helps release the juice but avoids pulverizing them into bits. You want a good while of flavor to infuse into your drink.
Step 3: Add Sugar and Mint
  1. Sprinkle the raw cane sugar over the muddled fruit. Throw in the torn mint leaves. Give everything a gentle mix. The mint releases its essence when just slightly mixed with the sweetened strawberries.
Step 4: Pour in the Cachaça
  1. Now, it’s time for the star of the show. Pour over the cachaça, letting it mix with the muddled strawberry and lime.
Step 5: Fill with Ice
  1. Add ice to your glass. You can use crushed ice or ice cubes, depending on your preference. Either way, this drink is best served chilled.
Step 6: Stir It Up
  1. Give your cocktail a good stir. This ensures all the flavors blend together beautifully. Pop in a straw and garnish with extra mint or a slice of strawberry if you’re feeling fancy.
Step 7: Enjoy!
  1. Sip slowly, savor the flavors, and enjoy the moment.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Always opt for fresh strawberries and limes. Frozen fruit may affect the taste and texture.
  • Adjust Sweetness Wisely: Depending on the natural sweetness of your strawberries, adjust the sugar to your liking.
  • Experiment with Flavors: Try adding a splash of soda water for fizz or some elderflower cordial for a floral twist.
  • Chill Your Glasses: Before serving, chill your glass in the freezer. It keeps your cocktail colder longer.
Don’t Over-Muddle: A gentle muddle releases flavors without turning the fruit into pulp.
