Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 fl oz tamarind paste preferably homemade
  • 1 slice of fresh lime
  • 3/4 fl oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 1/2 fl oz tequila
  • 1 teaspoon lime chili seasoning such as Tajín
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup
  • 1 dash of smoked paprika

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Glass
  1. Start by preparing your glass. Take a lime wedge and rub it around the rim. This step helps the lime chili seasoning stick.
In a small plate, spread out the chili seasoning. Dip the rim of the glass into the seasoning, coating it evenly. This adds a flavorful kick and makes your drink stunning.
Step 2: Mix the Ingredients
  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tamarind paste, fresh lime juice, tequila, and agave syrup. Toss in ice. The ice will chill the mixture and dilute it slightly, creating a refreshing drink.
Step 3: Shake it Up
  1. Secure the lid of the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This action not only combines the contents well but also introduces some air, enhancing the final drink. You want to feel the chill through the shaker.
Step 4: Pour and Garnish
  1. Now for the fun part! Fill your glass with ice cubes, if you prefer. Strain the drink into your prepared glass, letting the beautiful mixture pour gently over the ice. Top with a dash of smoked paprika. This boosts the visual appeal and adds another layer of flavor.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
  1. Finally, add your lime slice to garnish the drink. Set it on your table and invite your friends to taste what you’ve created. Enjoy every sip of your tamarind margarita!

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh limes and quality tequila make a noticeable difference in taste. Don't compromise on these!
  • Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free to add more agave syrup. Taste as you go.
  • Chill Your Glass: For an extra refreshing experience, chill your glass beforehand. Pop it in the freezer for around 10 minutes before serving.
  • Experiment with Fruit: Try adding fresh fruits like mango or pineapple into your shaker for a fruity twist.
  • Batch It Up: Hosting a party? Double or triple the recipe to make a batch, so everyone can enjoy without waiting.
